How It Works

How it Works - Lakewood AcupunctureAcupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine is a complete health care system that has been used for over 5000 years. Acupuncture balances the vital life-force energy known as Qi that flows throughout your body activating your body’s ability to heal itself.

Qi flows through 12 specific pathways called Meridians or Channels. Each of these meridians is connected to specific organs and glands. Meridian pathways transport Qi throughout your body keeping it functioning optimally. Stress, emotional trauma, lack of exercise, seasonal changes, poor diet, physical trauma, overworking and many other things can block the flow of Qi to all the areas of your body. Acupuncture can regulate the flow of Qi creating balance within your organs, glands, and tissues.

This is done by inserting thin painless needles that are about the width of a human hair into specific acupuncture points in your body. This creates a healing response in your body which regulates the flow of Qi and brings your body back into a state of homeostasis.

Acupuncture has been clinically proven to enhance your immune system, reduce stress, and decrease pain.

Chinese Herbal Medicine draws on the ancient wisdom of the healing powers of plants, minerals, and other substances. Also thousands of years old, Chinese Herbal Medicine regulates the organ functions of your body by bringing your body as a whole into balance. Chinese Herbal Medicine includes the use of over 450 herbal medicinals and 250 combinations of those herbal medicinals commonly referred to as Formulas.
